Who We Are
Oil of Joy has been bringing trauma-informed recovery to women in prisons and jails since 2000, when it was awarded the Governors Volunteer Service award for female offender programs by the Texas Dept. of Criminal Justice.
Our Vision
Our vision is to expand trauma-informed care throughout Texas by providing training for ministry teams. We continue care for 12 months post-release in the Houston area through the re-entry division, Portal Houston.
Types Of Activity
Chapel services, recovery support groups, pre-release assessments, post-release counseling and referrals.
Location
We currently minister in jails and prisons throughout Texas, and have trained others in Louisiana and Arkansas.
We have also trained abroad in the Carribbean and in Israel.
