Texas Conference UMC Restorative Justice

We are committed to the spread of Prison Ministry and Restorative Justice throughout all Methodist Churches and others who share the goal of spreading this ministry throughout the East Texas Area. We encourage our members to participate in all types of ministry including Karios, One on One Mentoring both in and out of Prison, Angel Tree, Toastmasters, InnerChange Freedom Initiative, Disciple Training,Spirit Key and many others.

Who We Are

The Texas Annual Conference(ie East Texas Area) has some 750 churches. Our goal is to assist the churches to become active in Restorative Justice. With over 70,000 incarcerated in our area we have a "Mission Field in our Own Backyard".

Our Vision

Lives Impacted by crime will be restored by the love of Jesus Christ through Restorative Justice Ministries.

Types Of Activity

Our Mission is "To inspire Texas Annual Conference Methodists into personal participation in Restorative Justice activities and to facilitate their active engagement".

Location

East Texas, from Marshall to Houston, North to the Red River and East to the Sabine.

Books we have published

DVD Video Resource "Restorative Justice Tools for Engaging Churches in Restorative Justice" available by ordering at the website. Three hours of programing broken down into 5-20 minutes programs. It is menu driven. Donation of minimum of $10.00 to cover cost of duplication and mailing.

About Our Prison Ministry

This ministry is expanding throughout the Texas UMC Conference area with the contacts for various ministries, including and not limited to vising those in prison or jail, victims, mentoring, re-entry programs, restoration churches, Restorative Justice Ministry groups, Bible study, chaplains and family aid.
