Who We AreI began by visiting a friend who was in jail- upon her release I continued visiting other female inmates at the jail. In a matter of a few weeks I had a list of twenty women who desired visits ,that soon grew to thirty and more. As some of these were released more were added.I continued to follow some to programs -then to the children of inmates. Our VisionDue to recent illness-I 've been unable to do the ministry as before but hope to return full swing in new year.My grand vision for this ministry--to have 1.to have a program whereby they not only learn to overcome the behavior that put them there but also teach them basic living skills and skills which woulfd prepare them for a new future. This would include education/training for a job, adequate funds available for clothing, childcare housing. All this to minimize % of return to life in prison. Also programs for children for children of inmates (who not because of something they did) must endure absence of parental support ,etc. This to include support groups, counseling, basi education so they can be turned around before reaching that point in life. This program to do complete follw-up. I have also communicated with a few males. Types Of ActivityActivities that I have done has been to enlist many of the inmates in the follow-up ministry Bible study by mail. Provide other Bible study activities by mail both to inmate and families.Supply Bibles where needed. If an inmate had learning problems--sometimes have provided remedial material. Also have done research on different programs available. I have on a couple occasions advocated for inmates. LocationI currently visit inmates at Marin County Jail in San Rafael. I have corresponded with an inmate in Richmond.About Our Prison MinistryTo be completedSupport InThe problem I face most is copying of items to be mailed as I go through a printer cartridge in about two weeks-expensive to replace or to go to copier.Postage again costly in multiples. Having access to a variety of Bible studies appropriate to a population that has a miriad of learning and reading problems . Ministry EventsNo upcoming events listed at INPM Calendar of Events. |
