Who We AreRising Hope is an all-volunteer, interfaith organization providing 1 year of free college-level education to men in New York State prisons. We respect all faith traditions. Our goal is academic excellence, not proselytizing. But while we are awakening the students' intellectual abilities, we help them form a community of seekers which grows in their faith and sense of personal responsibility. We invite you to join us in our important work. Our VisionRising Hope, Inc., helps prisoners grow intellectually, spiritually, morally, socially, & vocationally. We equip them to benefit themselves, their families & communities. We: provide 1 year of college-level education; promote earning academic degrees after release; explore religions from an academic perspective; study the divine call to personal transformation and service; examine their lives in light of their own religious tradition; promote fellowship & peacemaking while in prison & after.Types Of ActivityThe Certificate in Ministry and Human Services program includes, but is not limited to:English Composition; The Hebrew Bible; The Christian Scriptures; Contemporary Theology; Introduction to Ethics; History of Christianity I & II; Sociology of Religion I & II; World Religions; Pastoral Counseling. LocationAll of our prisons are in southern New York State. The program is running at the following 7 prisons: Sing Sing C.F.; Fishkill C.F.; Green Haven C.F.; Arthurkill C.F.; Eastern C.F.; Mid-Orange C.F.; and Woodbourne C.F. There is a waiting list of prisons who want us to open a branch with them. The only thing which prevents us from expanding our program into these prisons is a shortage of qualified volunteers to teach the courses and coordinate the programs.Support InVolunteers to teach our courses. Volunteers to act as program coordinators at the individual prisons.Ministry EventsNo upcoming events listed at INPM Calendar of Events. |
