Who We Are

We started our Ministry in the early part of 2009, ministering to inmates at the George Bailey Center Jail and RJ Donovan Correctional Center in San Diego County. We contributed towards the collection of more than 900 Angel Tree applications from inmates at Donovan Prison, to provide for Christmas toys and clothing for their children. We became members of the San Diego County District Attorney's Office Reentry Roundtable, with one of our members Chairing the Housing Committee.

Our Vision

Our Vision is to give hope and encouragement to those incarcerated, along with their families, through supportive services and programs, along with the edifying of our Lord and Savious, Jesus Christ. The mission of Bethel Memorial African Methodist Episcopal Church is to draw others to a Saving Knowledge of Jesus Christ, by creating, supporting, and maintaining a multitude of ministries which address the Spiritual, Physical, Mental, and Emotional needs of the Church and to whom it ministers.

Types Of Activity

Prayer and worship services, along with mentoring and Reentry programs. We want to address issues of housing and substance-abuse treatment for inmates returning to society. Economic development in our community is also a concern for us, as we will be better able to address the issues and needs of those coming back to the community from incarceration, such as providing them with a job.

Location

San Diego County, George Bailey Center Jail and RJ Donovan Correctional Facility.

Our magazine (newsletter)

None at the moment, but we do have access to "The Difference Inside," printed and published by "Pastors To Prisoners," whom we are aligned with through our ministering to inmates at RJ Donovan Correctional Facility at Rock Mountain in San Diego County.

About Our Prison Ministry

Our Prison Ministry is under the auspices of our Church's Commission on Social Action. As members of the San Diego County District Attorney's Office Reentry Roundtable, we Chair the Housing Committee. We also serve on the Legislative Committee.

Support In

The inmates at the George Bailey Center Jail and RJ Donovan Correctional Facility.
