Who We AreThe New Hope Prison Ministry was established by Mr. Richard Barker who received a prison sentence of 13 years and 6 strokes with the cat-o-nine in 1975. After 3 months in prison he gave his heart to Jesus Christ and started New Hope Prison Ministry to encourage inmates to change their lives through Jesus Christ. He received an early discharge in 1981 soon after which he returned to prison but this time as a spiritual counselor to inmates.Our VisionTo transform lives of persons so that they can enter in to a new hope for living.Types Of ActivitySpiritual counseling, reconciling prisoners to victims and their own families, crusades, street meetings, teaching on health issues. We have 2 branches in Trinidad and have done outreaches in Tobago as well.LocationWomen Prison, Golden Grove Men Prison, Maximum Security Prison, Carrera Island Prison, Youth Training Centre and Royal Goal (State Prison).About Our Prison MinistryThe New Hope Prison Ministry has served the Trinidad and Tobago community by reducing crime and re-offending, creating model citizens, mediating in community disputes and providing effective prisoner aftercare.
