Who We AreShelter is a registered Christian organization in Malaysia. Shelter is 25 years old. It was started by a group of young people in 1981 and the ministry grew and every month about 500 children are being helped through the residential centers, single mothers support group, young prisoners ministry, refugee work and the teen drop in center.Our VisionTo be effective in meeting the needs of hurting teens and children and their parents in this time and age. To have more young people joining the ministry so that we are able to mentor future leaders of the organization.Types Of ActivityResidential centers - to provide protection and shelter for victims of child abuse. Single Mothers Support group- to provide support and counseling for single mothers. Child prisoners - to provide education, medical aid, legal aid for young prisoners. Refugee work - To provide medical,legal and education aid for refugees in Malaysia. Drop Zone - a drop in center for teens to come in for some snacks and games.LocationPresently there are 700 young prisoners in the Kajang Prison. Their ages range from 13 to 18 years of age. Shelter conducts educational and vocational training programs. Shelter works closely with the families and the courts to help the child released.
