Who We Are

Women Prisoners Support Organization is a non-profit organization with a mission to support and enhance opportunities for a dynamic change in the lives of women prisoners, women ex-prisoners and their dependent children in Uganda. Based in Kampala, the organization offers programs that are prison based and prison linked through advocacy and direct service programs to address the underlying needs affecting this constellation.

Our Vision

We believe women are criminalized by poverty, social inequality, domestic violence and abuse. Women have needs different from men that demand a holistic response to address. By partnering with human rights groups, Christian agencies, health care providers, educators and pioneering innovative approaches in solving issues concerned with the Criminal Justice System, the organization since inception has worked hard to improve the standards of living of prisoners as well as their life styles.
