Who We Are
I am a retired Army Chaplain, and serving part-time here at Avery Mitchell Correctional Institution in North Carolina. We are located in Spruce Pine, NC. Since I had a ministry in Latin America for seven years, I have a Spanish speaking bible study. I am also free to counsel inmates in Spanish.
Our Vision
I am considering returning to Latin America for short term prison ministry. I was a missionary to Peru for one term before joining the Army Chaplaincy. What a joy it is to encourage emerging faith of those who know something has been very wrong with their personal lives! What a surprise to hear them say being here has turned their lives around.
Types Of Activity
Counseling, visiting cell blocks, bible distribution, chapel administration.
Location
This is a medium security state prison receiving prisoners from all over the state. It is unique in that there is a strong Christian influence among the staff. This has a visible direct positive influence on morale.
About Our Prison Ministry
I am in process of possibly returning to ministry as District Supervisor of the United Methodist Children's Home, Office in Augusta Georgia. I am praying for the Lord's leading in this. However, my heart is in prison ministry, perhaps in Latin America.
Support In
Pray that I and my associate, Rev. Jacob Willis my see through the layers of useless games, untruths and manipulations that prevent all unbelievers from finding the Truth in Christ. That God will bring to us those He has prepared for the Good News. For safety for us as we visit in the cell blocks and segregation units.
