Susan Atkins
Susan Atkins died on September 24, 2009, at the Central California Women's facility in Chowchilla. A prison spokesman announced to reporters that her death was due to natural causes. Her husband, James Whitehouse, subsequently released the following statement: "Susan passed away peacefully surrounded by friends and loved ones and the incredible staff at the Skilled Nursing Facility at the Central California Women's Facility ... Add your prayer requestMy children's father is in prison and is set to be released sometime this month. I went to court last December to renew an existing restraining order that I had against him. As a result, the judge granted an order of protection (stay away order) for 10 years. I am pleased with the judges decision, as I believe it is in the best intrest of the children to be kept away from thier father as he is a violent criminal.
