Susan Atkins
Susan Atkins died on September 24, 2009, at the Central California Women's facility in Chowchilla. A prison spokesman announced to reporters that her death was due to natural causes. Her husband, James Whitehouse, subsequently released the following statement: "Susan passed away peacefully surrounded by friends and loved ones and the incredible staff at the Skilled Nursing Facility at the Central California Women's Facility ... She needs christian fellowship and for the back time she is suppose to get to be straighteded out. They gave her only 48 days and she is suppose to have 3 l/2 months.
