The Village Griots

The Village Griots Life Skills Outreach Program works in conjunction with SheddingLight to promote prison reform give inmates a voice to ask questions, express their feelings, thoughts, and concerns, and share information and legislation, and on resolutions to Prison Issues.

Who We Are

Our Life Skills Outreach Program aims to empower disenfranchised individuals of all ages with essential life skills that contribute to personal growth, well-being, and success. Through workshops, seminars, and interactive sessions, we will provide participants with practical knowledge and tools to navigate various aspects of life effectively. Our departments include mentorship by former inmates who have successfully avoided going back to prison.

Our Vision

To empower, encourage, promote, and provide educational, career counseling, vocational, and life skills training. through direct and collaborative service providers

Types Of Activity

Life Skills Workshops: Comprehensive workshops covering communication, time management, problem-solving, emotional intelligence, and financial literacy. Job Preparation Coaching. These skills will empower participants to lead fulfilling lives and excel in their personal and professional endeavors

Our magazine (newsletter)

In this world of advanced technology, we provide current inmates with a platform to tell their stories, network with various experts in the field, including former wardens, gain insight, and prepare for release.
