Big Brothers Big Sisters of Acadiana Mentoring Children of Prisoners Program is a program of "Amachi" outreach.
Our Vision
Our vision is to stop the cycle of inter generational incarceration. 70% of children with an incarcerated parent will follow their parent to prison. We partner with area churches to provide caring adult mentors of faith to be a friend to a child with an incarcerated parent.
Types Of Activity
Providing mentors to children with incarcerated parents. Children must reside in the 5 parishes served (Lafayette, Acadia, St. Martin, St. Landry or Evangeline). The child must between the ages of 4 and 15 and have a parent (or significant caregiver) currently incarcerated.
